Pipe Burst Tracer Wire

Pipe Burst Tracer Wire

KrisTech’s pipe burst tracer wire is a stranded, copper clad steel wire. With a breaking strength of 4,700 pounds, it is stronger and more conductive than stranded stainless steel wire traditionally used in pipe burst applications.

Pipe burst tracer wire is three times more conductive than traditional stainless steel pipe burst wire and is much stronger. It’s a highly flexible, durable, and reliable wire used for pipe bursting and critical directional drilling applications where a high break load is essential.

This product also poses less of a theft risk than other materials as it has a lower aftermarket value compared to solid copper wire products.

Standard Products

  • Available in size #6 AWG and in all standard American Public Works Association (APWA) colors

KrisTech’s pipe burst tracer wire meets the following standards and tests, including:

  • ASTM B-170
  • ASTM D1248
  • ICEA/NEMA

  • Conductors – Our pipe burst tracer wire is made from 7×7 stranded copper-clad steel, comprised of an extra high strength steel core and metallurgically bonded copper cladding. The hard, high carbon conductor is rated at 30 V.
  • Cladding – The cladding is created through a high heat and pressure bonding process established for porosity-free material. The copper used for the cladding is oxygen free, as per ASTM B-170, assuring high conductivity and optimal signal performance.
  • Insulation – This wire has a durable, 50 mil high-density polyethylene (HDPE) insulation rated for direct burial use at 1000V.
