KrisTech offers a comprehensive line of wire and cable products engineered for performance and reliability across every application.
TAP Wire
TAP wire connects primary phase conductors to equipment bushings. It is used as a spacer cable, tree wire, weatherproof wire, and bare wire for distribution lines rated at 5kV.
Feature Quick View:
TAP wire is available as a single copper conductor available in solid or stranded configurations, with annealed or hard uncoated copper, per ASTM requirements.
Conductors are insulated with black, sunlight-resistant cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE). The insulation is applied concentrically and will be at least 90% of the specified average thickness throughout the entire reel. In addition to being sunlight resistant, the insulation provides excellent mechanical, abrasion, moisture, chemical, and oil resistance.
Standard Products
- #8 AWG through #4/0 AWG
- Solid copper or stranded (7- or 19-strand) conductors
- 0.115″ Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) insulation
- Long-length bulk reels
KrisTech’s TAP wire meets the following standards and tests, including:
- ASTM B-1, B-3, B-8, and B-174
- CSA C22.2 No. 271-11
- Conductors – Single conductors are available in solid or stranded and annealed or hardened uncoated copper.
- Insulation – Conductors are insulated with a concentrically applied XLPE (crosslinked polyethylene). All black insulation is rated “Sunlight Resistant.” All colored insulation is rated “Sunlight Resistant” in sizes #6 AWG and larger and optional in sizes #8 AWG and smaller.
