Description

Aluminum tie wire is made using a single conductor and insulated using high molecular weight polyethylene (HMWPE). It is direct burial rated, moisture and abrasion resistant, and suitable for wet and dry locations up to 75°C.

May also be called aluminum utility wire, utility wire, or aluminum cable.

Application

This product is primarily used to secure components used in overhead transmission and distribution lines, including conductors and pin insulators. Aluminum tie wire is also suitable for grounding applications.

Features

Concentrically applied HMWPE – LLDPE is standard, and HDPE is available upon request, sunlight resistant.

  • ASTM B-230 for an aluminum conductor
  • ASTM D-1248 for Polyethylene
  • ICEA S-70-547, ICEA S-61-402/NEMA WC5 and ICEA S95-658/NEMA WC70 for cable construction
  • Spark tested at 7500 VAC
