KrisTech CARES and Wellness Teams Help Clean Rome Greenspace

A Rome park has a new look and a pop of color, thanks to a partnership between Rome Clean & Green and KrisTech’s CARES and Wellness teams.

For two hours, the CARES and Wellness Teams worked alongside Rome Clean & Green volunteers to spruce up a local greenspace near downtown Rome. Crew members raked debris, weeded garden beds, and planted mums to beautify the neighborhood and build positive momentum in the city.

Making a Positive Difference

CARES Team member Christina Wilcox helped organize the event, which brought more than a half dozen KrisTech volunteers to the park. For her, rolling up her sleeves and making a positive mark in the community is part of living the KrisTech Way.

“I love that KrisTech and the KT Cares Team are so involved in our community,” Wilcox said. “Partnering with Rome Clean & Green gave us the opportunity to take KT's values — Commit to Excellence, Win Together, Lead by Example, Build Trusted Relationships, and Learn & Grow — outside of our walls and into the community. Rome Clean & Green is an amazing organization that relies on volunteers to make a real difference, and I was happy to be a part of it!”

But being a helping hand and positive force in the community is second nature to KrisTech employees, according to Director of Employee Engagement, Wendy Calabrese.

“We're always looking for ways to help,” Calabrese explained. “That's what KrisTech is about; taking care of the communities our team members live in and leaving them better than we found them. Partnering with Rome Clean & Green lets us do exactly that, right in our own backyard.”

Originally founded in 1991 as a Keep America Beautiful affiliate, Rome Clean & Green was recently revived following a several-year hiatus. Today, the volunteer-driven organization hosts events year-round in the Copper City, including park beautification projects, paint recycling events, and the annual nationwide Great American Clean Up.
