Copper Tie Wire

Scope

Single copper conductor available in soft annealed, medium-hard, and hard tempers, high molecular weight polyethylene (HMWPE) wire used to secure the conductor to pin insulators on a distribution pole. HMWPE is a rugged and durable material considered excellent for moisture and abrasion resistance. This product is suitable for continuous service in direct burial, wet and dry locations, 75°C.

Applicable Standards and Tests

• ASTM B-1 and B-3 for copper conductors
• ASTM D-1248 for Polyethylene
• ICEA S-70-547, ICEA S-61-402/NEMA WC5 and ICEA S-95-658/NEMA WC70 for cable construction
• UL 83, UL 1581 for tests and procedures
• Spark tested at 7500 VAC

Construction

Conductors: Single copper conductors, solid per UL83 and ASTM requirements.

Insulation: Concentrically applied HMWPE insulation in accordance with UL83. LLDPE is standard and HDPE is available upon request.

Identification and Packaging

Custom and standard print legends are available. Reels are packaged and labeled with product name, description, AWG, and manufacturer. Custom lengths, non-standard colors, Sunlight Resistance, AWG and custom packaging are available by request.
