“Safety is no accident.”
Those four words have become synonymous with Kris-Tech’s culture. The team works tirelessly every day to protect each person from harm on the production floor, in the office, and in the shipping areas.
So far, the company’s increased commitment to focus, precision, and safety has paid off. Kris-Tech achieved 365 days without a recordable accident, prompting the company to hold a Safety Day event along with its annual Halloween party.
“Safety is our number one focus,” VP of Operations Jeff Handley explained. “W
e want everybody to come in and go out feeling the same way. It’s a goal; it’s something that we’ve worked on. Our motto is ‘Safety is no accident,’ and it isn’t an accident because you’ve got to put time into it. It fosters all our other goals; we need a clean shop, we need good processes, robust processes, and good working equipment. All those things go into making safety what it is today.”
But safety is only one part of the equation for Kris-Tech. Doing the little things right each day supports the company’s larger goal of creating a people-first environment where everyone can thrive.
“One of our core tenets is attracting, developing, and engaging the very best people,” Kris-Tech President and CEO Graham Brodock said. “You can’t do that without caring for them, ultimately. There’s no more important way to show care and respect for people than by keeping them safe and giving them an environment where they can contribute, perform, engage with other team members, and then go home safely to their families. That’s the simplest, but most fundamental, level of why we do what we do, and we’re very proud to have celebrated the last 365 days accident-free.”
Like many Kris-Tech events, there was no shortage of excitement to go around. Team members took part in a variety of games, including a safety-themed game of cornhole, a Nuts-n-Bolts game, trivia, and a scavenger hunt. There were also opportunities to carve safety-themed pumpkins for prizes and even learn about fire safety from members of the Rome Fire Department.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be Halloween without a costume contest! Director of Employee Engagement Wendy Calabrese had one of the event’s best costumes, combining the event’s two themes into one fantastic mash-up.
Despite all the fun and festivities, the main goal is still clear. At the end of the day, every Kris-Tech team member should be allowed to come in, work hard, and go home safe to their friends and family.
It’s something we take a lot of pride in, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s celebration!
