There’s a term used in the restaurant industry known as “mise en place,” which translates to “everything in its place.”

When done correctly, this kitchen feng shui ensures every ingredient, tool, and pan is prepared, measured, and ready to cook as soon as an order comes in. For the best chefs in the industry, mise en place is a mantra that keeps them organized, focused, and ready to react quickly.

June’s Employee of the Month came to Kris-Tech ready to cook, bringing a wealth of experience and new ideas to our kitchen. Since then, they’ve jumped into dozens of projects, haven’t shied from new opportunities, and created a well-oiled machine in the process.

The result has been nothing less than Michelin star-worthy, which is why we’re thrilled to announce that June’s Kris-Tech Employee of the Month is none other than Justin Deschamps!

Hitting the Ground Running

Whether he’s taking on new engineering projects, getting others across the finish line, or building strong relationships with those around him, Justin doesn’t stop moving.

“He truly has exemplified being a team player who hits all of our core values,” Supply Chain Director Marcus Tagliaferri said. “Externally, Justin has built a strong rapport with many of our vendors for equipment and upgrades.”

Justin doesn’t just embrace our value of “building trusted relationships,” he embodies it. Thanks to his ability to connect with and work alongside internal and external partners, he’s been able to complete a laundry list of projects, including:

  • new bunchers
  • new reels
  • fork trucks
  • cleaning solutions
  • line speed optimization
  • printing enhancements
  • cutting lines
  • scrap processing improvements

“Some of these projects have been challenging,” Tagliaferri said. “However, Justin always perseveres, showing his ability to learn and grow and, most importantly, strive for excellence.”

It Takes a Village…

No one can do everything by themselves. Justin is constantly making new inroads with other teams, getting insight and buy-in from others, and ensuring everyone gets recognized for their work.

“This shows Justin’s values around winning together and the constant development of trusted relationships,” Tagliaferri said. “Even internally, Justin has a ‘how can I help’ mentality with the eagerness and energy to support and provide strong customer service.”

His eagerness to jump in and make a difference also shines through in how he takes on new tasks. Recently, Justin inherited Kris-Tech’s spec sheet and part number creation process, which has many moving parts.

Despite a steep learning curve, Justin has not shied away from fully diving into the project.

“There are a lot of inputs and variables to digest, but Justin has invested the time, including some late nights, to ensure his internal customers were serviced and we didn’t miss a step during this transition period.”

Though this is only one project of many that Justin has taken on, it’s par for the course for him.

“Justin is level-headed, kind, and patient, yet highly motivated and holds himself accountable,” Tagliaferri said. “His efforts and presence have had such a positive impact on the organization, and we wish him a long and rewarding career here at Kris-Tech!”

Celebrating Our Nominees

Justin was this month’s big winner, but he wasn’t the only person up for the title. Other nominees included:

Griffin Tubbs and Matt Stolo – Griffin and Matt have been instrumental in identifying, organizing, and eliminating excess non-stock inventory from Kris-Tech’s systems. Over time, they’ve removed more than 8 million feet of outdated part numbers and rogue purchase orders!

Gino Geruntino – Gino stopped what he was doing and worked tirelessly with our marketing agency partner to find the root cause of an issue that caused website traffic to slump. He was in multiple urgent meetings, sending out a stream of status update emails while identifying and fixing the underlying issue.

Come back next month to find out who joins Justin, Kristy, Thomas, Charles, Kelly, David, Justin, and Drew as this year’s Employee of the Year nominees!
