The Letter E

ECTFE
Ethylene ChloroTriFluoroEthylene, used as an insulation or jacketing material. Halar is the Solvay Solexis trademark for this material.

Elastomer
A rubber-like substance.

Elongation
The fractional increase in the length of a material stressed in tension.


Extruded Cable
Cable that is insulated by applying insulation material in a continuous extrusion process.

Extrusion
A method of applying insulation to a conductor or jacketing to a cable. The process is continuous and utilizes rubber, neoprene or a variety of plastic compounds.
