The Letter D

Direct Burial Wire or Cable
A cable installed directly in the earth.

Direct Current (DC)
An electric current which flows in only one direction.

Direction of Lay
The lateral direction, designated as left-hand or right-hand, in which the wires of a conductor run over the top of the conductor as they recede from an observer looking along the axis of the conductor. < href="wire-glossary-l.php#lay">See also Lay.


Drawing
In wire manufacturing, pulling the metal through a die or series of dies to reduce the diameter to a specific size.

Duplex Insulated
In the thermocouple industry, a combination of dissimilar metal conductor of a thermocouple or thermocouple extension wire.
