Directional Drilling

We're boring....

Horizontal Directional Drilling is a way to install underground pipes, conduits and cables in an arc along a specific path by using a steerable drilling rig.

It's used when trenching or excavating isn't practical and when a low level of impact on the surrounding area is necessary.

  • Horizontal Directional Drilling Wire (HDD): Often called the wireline, HDD is used in directional drilling when a 'wireline' monitoring system is needed, rather than an above-ground, or 'walk-over' monitoring system. The wire runs inside the drill string and transmits information on the angle, rotation, direction and temperature of the drilling head while it's working underground, out of sight.
  • Directional Drilling Tracer Wire: This wire works the same way that traditional tracer wire works, but is made of a more durable insulation able to withstand the harsher environments associated with the drilling process.
