Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Wire
Description
A single conductor, usually #10 AWG stranded, with a thick protective coating of insulation. Suitable for use in both wet and dry locations.
Application
HDD wire provide reliable electrical signals from the steering tool during the directional drilling process. Often called the wireline, it's used when a 'wireline' monitoring systems is needed, rather than an above-ground, or 'walk-over,' monitoring system. The wire runs inside the drill string and transmits information about the angle, rotation, direction and temperature of the drilling head while it's working underground, out of sight.
